Seattle Plans to Use Federal Funds for Free College Tuition

Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best Announces Resignation

The last year and a half has been....well, different. Many students around Seattle were sent home to do digital learning amid a pandemic. Students obviously suffered.

With that in mind, the office of Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan announced that they will be tapping into the American Rescue Plan fund to help college students that have struggled in the past year, be able to return to school, tuition free through equity grants.

The office of Mayor Durkan released the statement saying that the program funds will "offer additional college preparation and persistence support for recent public high school graduates, particularly students of color, participating in the program."
