Remember April the Giraffe? She went viral in 2017 as we all tuned into watch her give birth on a live stream. Well, sad news to report, April has passed away. After many years of struggling with arthritis, her caretakers decided it was best to euthanize April so she didn't suffer anymore.
The live stream of April giving birth racked up over 200 million views in February of 2017. In 2019, she was retired from the breeder program and unfortunately just a few years later, her arthritis condition was causing her too much pain.
According to April's caretakers "April's most recent veterinary exam identified the acceleration of April's condition, prompting the determination that euthanasia was the humane and appropriate course of action."
