6 Things To Do In Seattle For Mother's Day

Besa Gordon, and her Mom

Happy Friday!

With Mother's Day being this Sunday, I wanted to suggest six dope things you can do for Mother's Day. Of course, it's mostly restaurants, BUT with it raining on Sunday here in Seattle, outside activities will be a weeeee bit limited as usual.

Personally, with the Pandemic, I've gotten used to my Mom coming over and me cooking for her. However, not everyone has the time or knows how to make a good meal their mom would truly be proud of. For a list of things to do this Sunday, see below:

Moms Weekend at BluWater Bistro (See below for event details and click here to RSVP)

RSVP for your table with Mom at BluWater Bistro. What's on the menu? If you order by 3 pm, you can have Dungeness crab quiche with breakfast potatoes, a freshly baked scone, and fruit for $24. If you come for dinner (4 pm to close) they're serving 6 oz main lobster tail, an 8 oz USDA prime sirloin, potatoes, and seasonal vegetables for $49.

Bitches Love Brunch (See below for event details and click here for its Eventbrite link)

At Bitches Love Brunch we will uplift each other through conversation and community. We are creating a space where you can be comfortable being your true authentic self. It’s an experience where the food is delicious, where sex is not a taboo topic, where nourishing a healthy relationship with your body and soul is normal, where you feel supported, loved and complete.

If you join us on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, 2022, at 11:00 am you will experience:

  • delicious brunch served by That Brown Girl Cooks! and brunch-style cocktails by Brown Liquor
  • passed appetizers from some of our favorite women & femme owned local caterers
  • an intergenerational panel of women and femmes discussing motherhood, bodies, and sex
  • some of our favorite local women and BIPOC owned vendors slanging their wares
  • stunning local performers
  • donations from this event will be split between H.O.P.E. Center Resources & the Youth Care - South Seattle location.
  • a celebration of the moment, inching closer to a sense of normalcy & a very good excuse to dress up in your best Bougie attire
  • a joyful, radical, and liberating experience to celebrate all kinds of motherhood

Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizza (See more about this restaurant below and click here for their full menu)

We’ve been a cornerstone of Seattle’s fast-growing South Lake Union neighborhood since 2007. Perched in our loft or elevated patios, take in the urban bustle while sipping a crafted cocktail and enjoying our Neapolitan cuisine. Our guests can enjoy the incredible view of the Space Needle while comforted inside by the roar of Carolina, our wood-fired oven. See the action up close by dining at our 30-foot-long chef’s table, carved from an old-growth elm that fell in the windstorm of 2006. Each day, we are pleased to welcome guests from local businesses, nearby residents…as well as visitors to the Emerald City.

Bang Bang Kitchen (See more about this restaurant below and click here for their full menu)

In 2012, the sister duo Yuki & Miki Sodos, inspired by the cuisine of their home state, New Mexico, opened Bang Bang Café, a cheery daytime spot located in Belltown.

Raised in New Mexico, the sisters grew up in a mixed heritage family amongst a largely Latinx community - and they’ve always felt most at home in melting-pot environments. They wanted their restaurants to reflect the diversity of their background and also the communities that have welcomed them.

While running Bang Bang Café, they also acquired Café Pettirosso on Capitol Hill, which has become a beloved neighborhood spot for many locals.

In 2019, they decided to reintroduce the concept through Bang Bang Kitchen, this time as a full-service restaurant and bar in Othello. It features some of the same highlights (the Hatch chile, burritos, & vegan mac) but primarily focuses on dinner & late-night crowds.

Take a trip to Belize (Click here for flights via Alaska Air)

Hear me out, lol I know this is a random one BUT it's raining in Seattle all weekend, and it's going to be in the 80s in Belize. Plus Alaska Airlines has a direct flight from Seattle to Belize that's only 6hrs. Back in November, I went for 9 days and I loved it. Truly wish it was something my mother would have been able to experience also.

Bouns - Make your Mom feel special and give her a photo shoot

Most of us can work our phone cameras better than a "professional" one these days. I don't know about your Mom, but mine loves to get dressed and take photos. Usually, after dinner, I set up my ring light for us to have a Mother-daughter photoshoot and she loves it.

What are some of your favorite things to do with your Mom for Mother's Day?
