Kate Middleton quietly returned to work at Windsor Palace on Tuesday (September 17), fronting a project near and dear to her heart.

According to People, this is the first royal engagement Middleton has attended since announcing her cancer diagnosis in March. Per the "Court Circular" (the official record of royal family activities) obtained by The Telegraph:

"The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon held an Early Years Meeting at Windsor Castle."

The meeting, pertaining to the Princess of Wales' adored early years project, highlighted "how experiences in early childhood are often the root cause of today’s hardest social challenges such as addiction, family breakdown, poor mental health, suicide and homelessness."

The news of Middleton's return to royal duties arrives just over a week after she announced that she is done with her chemotherapy treatments, (nearly seven months after revealing her battle with abdominal cancer). The beloved royal and mother-of-three took time to heal in private and connect with her family over the course of the year, while also making an effort attend the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony in June, and the Wimbledon men's singles final (known as one of her favorite events of the summer) alongside family members in July.

The Princess of Wales will also potentially take part in England's Remembrance Sunday service on November 10th, and host her annual carol concert at Westminster Abbey in December.
