Jennifer Lopez had a tense exchange with a reported this week when asked about rumors that her marriage to Ben Affleck is on the rocks.
The actress/singer was in Mexico City on Wednesday (May 22) to promote her new film Atlas when she was asked during a panel discussion if the speculation that she and Affleck had split was true, per Entertainment Tonight. Her co-star Simu Liu, who was also present during the press conference, attempted to step in and quickly told the reporter, "OK, we're not doing that," before Lopez herself, who was wearing her wedding ring, chided, "You know better than that."
Liu added, "Don't come in here with that energy, please," before praising Lopez for her work behind the camera.
"Jen is a producer on this movie, and the reason why I'm here and the reason Sterling [K. Brown] was in this beautiful movie is because Jen cares and Jen cares about things like representation and diversity, and she's a boss and she's an incredible creative and an icon and that's what I think we should celebrate her for today."
The seemingly tense moment comes after recent rumors that she and Affleck having been having issues in their marriage after not being seen together for over a month. The Academy Award winner being spotted without his wedding band and the "On the Floor" singer "liking" cryptic posts about unhealthy relationships have also added fuel to the fire.
A source recently told ET that the couple has "had their ups and downs" since tying the knot in 2022 and that "they have gone through phases where things haven't been as great between them due to their different personalities and not getting enough time together. A second source added that their relationship "is not over yet" despite staying in separate homes amid "tension," adding that they have both "been very down."
