Apparently we've been washing our hands all wrong according to several infectious disease experts.
Here are some things to think about when washing your hands.
- Don't forget the backs of your hands! Most people focus on the palms but the backs of your hands and fingers get just as much germs on them.
- Don't forget fingernails and under your nails which are where most of the germs are and can easily spread when you touch your face.
- Don't forget your thumb! We use our thumbs a lot and this is the most underrated finger when it comes to washing!
- If you have to use your hand to turn the water off use a towel to prevent recontamination.
Basically make sure your ENTIRE HAND gets washed and remember to wash for at least 20 seconds! Antibacterial soap is also the way to go!
