Joaquin Phoenix won his first Oscar for Joker yesterday but gave one of the most powerful acceptance speeches last night. He spoke about activism and how he thinks we all fight for a common cause:
“I’ve been thinking a lot about some of the distressing issues that we are facing collectively and I think at times that we are made to feel that we are championing different causes. But for me, I see commonality.”
He then goes on to speak about several issues and pulls a quote from his brother who passed away.
