Kanye West Opens Up About His Bipolar Diagnosis!

Kanye West has been very open about his struggles with mental health in the past and has become an advocate for the mental health awareness society. On an upcoming episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman Kanye spoke about his personal experiences and being diagnosed bipolar.

West was diagnosed two years ago but explains that his symptoms have been around for much longer. He goes into great detail about the mental shift that takes place when he experiences an episode and says, “You have this moment [where] you feel everyone wants to kill you. You pretty much don’t trust anyone.”

West also described being handcuffed and separated from loved ones during treatment.

“They have this moment where they put you — they handcuff you, they drug you, they put you on the bed, and they separate you from everyone you know,” West said, according to the outlet. “That’s something that I am so happy that I experienced myself so I can start by changing that moment.”

It's awesome that Kanye has the courage to speak about his struggles given the social stigma associated with mental health.
