It's official! Lil Nas X's debut album Montero is here! For the last few months, the "Old Town Road," singer has been trolling and promoting his album to the top of the charts! It all started when he released the lead single "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" along with the controversial music video and Nike Satan customs. Shortly after that, the controversial artists caused a much needed conversation surrounding gay men in hip-hop when he kissed a back up dancer during his BET Award Performance. The moment led to statements being released from the likes of Boosie Badazz, T.I. and Da Baby. While Boosie and T.I. both took social media sharing their discontent with the moment, leading to accusations of homophobia, Da Baby straight up disrespected the LGBTQ community with his comments on women, gay men and AIDS at Rolling Loud Miami. Not one to back down and after some social media trolling, the rapper turned around announced he was pregnant with a 17-track album sporting a pregnant belly, paternity pictures and everything! A controversial publicity stunt developed to promote the release date of his album Montero. Honestly between the conversation being had about cis black men in hip-hop (which is wayyyyyyy overdue) and the way he's pushing that conversation; all in promote of his work - it's brilliant!
Upon the release of the project, Lil Nas X dropped a promo-video giving birth to the album alongside his producers who helped deliver the baby. In a hilarious clip, the producers can be heard saying "I can see the baby ... the baby ... DA BABY,". Was then responds, "Let's gooooooo," he exclaims, a subliminal to Da Baby's "Suge". The moment is iconic and classic Lil Nas X for trolling! The debut album Montero is out now and features Jack Harlow, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, Elton John and Miley Cyrus! I'm definitely rocking with the project and appreciate its content. As for the baby, each track has a "baby registry," with a special foundation that is important to him racking in thousands of dollars since last Friday. I'm going to release an album review on Montero soon but until then, what do you think of the album!? What do you think of the trolling!?
