Twitter's new feature allows user to "redo" tweet

2020 Winter TCA Tour - Day 12

Have you ever engaged in an awesome twitter conversation, debate or roast and lost it all at the fingers of a misspelled or tweet? On Twitter, there is no edit option for your tweets. One must delete or add another corrected tweet which can become controversial for a celebrity or just throw off the profile of your average tweeter. For years users have talked of how useful and effective an edit tweet option would be on the app. Back in 2015 social media royalty Kim Kardashian suggested the option “so that when you misspell something you don’t have to delete & repost,” and campaigned for the feature.

As late as this year Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey explained why Twitter would never offer the feature. “The reason there's no edit button [and] there hasn't been an edit button traditionally is we started as an SMS text messaging service," explains Dorsey. "So as you all know, when you send a text, you can’t really take it back. We wanted to preserve that vibe and that feeling in the early days,” he continued. However, over the weekend an upcoming subscription-based feature on the app called Twitter Blue was discovered. The new feature offers users to “undo” tweets,” or a timer giving one the option to “recall the tweet”. Although it’s not the feature Kim Kardashian campaigned for years ago, it will surely be helpful when sending those sticky tweets! In addition to the undo feature, the $2.99/month based subscription also offers “collections, tip jars and a clutter-free news reading experience.” Will you be using the brand new Twitter-Blue?
